Medac adheres to a written, corporate compliance plan. It serves as a safeguard to ensure that all aspects of the billing and collection process are analyzed and kept in accordance with all government regulations and guidelines as they are updated for all government and private insurers.
In addition, each employee at Medac must read the plan and sign an acknowledgement statement every April of every year. Employees are updated on compliance issues through corporate meetings and interactive modules and must adhere to these rules. Medac also maintains a 24-hour compliance hotline for employees to report potential violations anonymously. Medac also provides:

Medac's reimbursement teams are continuously updated on the latest regulatory changes in the anesthesia industry to ensure virtually error free coding; a key element in eliminating the physician's threat of fraud.
Audits
Medac maintains its own Compliance Department whose responsibility is to audit the accounts of our clients. These audits include a review of data entry, payment posting, accounts receivable and coding. On a rotating basis, each client is audited at least once on a quarterly basis. The results are then distributed to your Account Executive, Account Supervisor, and the Corporate Compliance Officer. Modifications must be made within three days of distribution findings.
In addition, the KAM2000 system is designed with its own internal coding edits based on individual carrier billing rules and regulations and in accordance with the National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI). Our system is continuously updated with the current carrier billing instructions and continuous, automated audits are done on each account to identify any patterns of potential coding problems.
Our internal process and workflow controls also provide for auditing of employees' productivity for precision and accuracy on a recurring basis. |
