Jerrry O’Leary, MBA, CMPE
Senior Vice President, Practice Management and Managed Care

Jerry serves as a Senior Vice President of Practice Management and Managed Care and is responsible for ongoing negotiations with managed care companies for Medac clients. He ensures that all client contracts with managed care companies meet all applicable guidelines and regulations. Jerry also supports Medac’s practice management clients - evaluating and negotiating hospital contracts, designing compensation formulas and fringe benefit packages, as well as interfacing with other practice advisors. He ensures that all clients are satisfied with the service of Medac in relation to practice management and managed care.

Jerry has over 30 years experience in medical administration, overall practice management, managed care, and management services to hospitals and physicians. He has 15 years experience in anesthesia and pain management.  Jerry is a member of Medical Group Management Association – Anesthesia Administrative Assembly, and has numerous publications in medical journals. He has a Masters in Business Administration (health administration major) from Temple University.

Rey Romero, CPC

Rey Romero graduated from California State University, Northridge with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration Finance and is a certified coder through the American Academy of Professional Coders.  He has utilized his coding knowledge to research and solve various coding issues to increase reimbursement and help with correct coding guidelines to avoid compliance issues.   Rey also served as a compliance coordinator with responsibilities to implement, follow and enforcing a compliance plan at the company and client level.

Rey comes to Medac with 20 plus years experience in billing and operational functions.  His experiences consist of managing a client physician base of 20 to managing multiple groups with a physician base of up to 250.  Rey has spearheaded the start up of 6 large billing groups.  His duties included, but were not limited to, developing all start up processes which include system set up, hiring staff, client and corporate reporting.  Throughout his 20 years of experience he has maintained 100% client retention.  Rey’s last two successes, while employed by a third party billing service, consist of the USC Anesthesiology Department and the USC Neurosurgeon Department for the last 5 and 3 years respectfully.  With Rey’s experience both departments experienced high levels of success, financially and operationally.

Krista Marie Schultz

Krista is a results driven healthcare executive with over 20 years hands-on experience in the medical practice and managed care industries.  She has worked in variety of healthcare settings including transplant, ambulatory surgery center, ancillary, home health, hospital, physician and medical practice management; and has extensive knowledge and expertise in areas of business development, contracting, strategic planning and corporate administration.

Nicholas A. Mareletto

Vice President, Practice Management and Managed Care
Northeast Region

Nick serves as Vice President of Practice Management and Managed Care for Medac’s Northeast region. He graduated from Seton Hall University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration, majoring in Accounting. He has over 25 years in healthcare administration and brings our clients a diversified background in healthcare finance and administration, practice operations and development, hospital and managed care contracting. His perspective is unique as a result of both his insurance background and healthcare administration experience.

Nick was Vice President for Prudential’s HMO subsidiary, PruCare, where he was responsible for the establishment of their group practice model HMO’s in Houston, Texas and Atlanta, Georgia prior to its purchase by Aetna. His responsibilities included medical group operations and development as well as specialty physician and hospital contracting. From there, Nick moved on to focus on managed care contracting for 8 years as the Director of Contracting and Reimbursement for the UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School with responsibilities for all managed care contracting and credentialing functions for its 375 physician faculty practice plan. He is also well grounded in practice management functions, including payer contracting, as a result of senior administrative positions as Executive Director in a preeminent ophthalmologic surgical group in Philadelphia, PA, the Chief Administrator of the surgery department of a major trauma center in southern New Jersey and as COO of an anesthesia practice in southeastern Pennsylvania.

Kelly Baldwin
Director, Practice Management and Managed Care

Kelly has worked for Medac for over 7 years. She earned her B.S. Ed from the University of Georgia and has over 10 years of experience with healthcare, beginning her career at University Hospital in Augusta, GA.  Prior to joining Medac, Kelly worked for a private neurosurgeon in the Augusta area. As Director of Practice Management and Managed Care, she is responsible for negotiating managed care contracts with third-party payers, resolving any contractual payment issues and supporting Client Relation Manager’ with their client relationships.  Kelly is a member of the MGMA and she is certified with the American College of Managed Care Medicine.

Tanya Mathews

Director, Practice Management and Managed Care

Tanya has over  21 years of experience in billing, collections and practice management.  She most recently served as the Administrative Director for a 20 physician anesthesia practice in Columbus, OH.  Before that she was an operations manager for a billing company responsible for anesthesia, pain and ED practices.  She has also worked for the largest healthcare organization in central Ohio working with a neonatology practice and the hospice organization.  Ms. Mathews is a graduate of Western Kentucky University, Wilmington College and the University of Dayton.  She has bachelor’s degrees in Geography and Business Administration, and a master’s degree in Counseling Education. Ms. Mathews serves as a Director of Practice Management & Managed Care in the Midwest Region.
