Gary Keeling, CPA, MBA
Executive Vice President, Practice Management and Managed Care
Gary comes to Medac with a broad range of experience in financial and practice management, anesthesiology group management, and physician practice development. Most recently, Gary served as Eastern Regional Vice President of Anesthesia Services for McKesson where he was responsible for the management of 170 anesthesia clients. He is well-versed in billing and collections management, hospital and facility contracting, development of governance structures, financial analysis, tax structures, and short and long term strategic planning. Gary is a Certified Public Accountant and has a Master of Business Administration from Duquesne University.
Jerry O’Leary, MBA, CMPE
Senior Vice President, Practice Management and Managed Care
Eastern Region
Jerry has over 30 years of experience in medical administration, overall practice management, managed care, and management services to hospitals and physicians. He has more than 15 years of experience in anesthesia and pain management. His experience and responsibilities include ongoing negotiations with managed care companies, ensuring contracts with managed care companies meet all applicable guidelines and regulations. Jerry also supports practice management clients, evaluating and negotiating of hospital contracts and interfacing with other practice advisors. Jerry is a member of Medical Group Management Association – Anesthesia Administrative Assembly (MGMA AAA) and has been published numerous times in medical journals. He has a Master of Business Administration in Health Administration from Temple University.

Nicholas A. Mareletto
Senior Vice President of Practice Management and Managed Care
Northeast Region
Nick has over 30 years of experience in healthcare finance and administration, practice operations and development, and hospital and managed care contracting. His perspective is unique as a result of his background in both insurance and healthcare administration. Nick was Vice President for Prudential’s HMO subsidiary, PruCare, where he was responsible for their group practice model. His responsibilities included medical group operations and development, as well as specialty physician and hospital contracting. From there, Nick moved on to focus on managed care and spent 8 years as the Director of Contracting and Reimbursement for the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School with responsibilities for all managed care contracting and credentialing functions for its 375-physician faculty practice plan. As a result of his tenure in senior administrative positions, he is also well versed in practice management functions, including payer contracting. Nick has a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Seton Hall University.

Michael Asbury, CMPE
Vice President of Contracting and Practice Management
Mike joins Medac with 15 years of experience in the healthcare industry that has been entirely focused on anesthesia billing and practice management. His areas of expertise include managed care contracting, facility contracting, stipend/subsidy analysis, billing oversight, and strategic planning. Mike began his career with Medaphis (now McKesson), was Director of Practice Management for ASMG, one of the nation's largest anesthesia practices, and for the past three years, was Director of Contracting Services with abeo, where he was responsible for payer and facility contracting and practice management for more than 700 physicians and CRNAs in 14 states. Mike has a Bachelor of Science in Business Management, is a member of the Medical Group Management Association, (MGMA) and is a Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) through the American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE).

Rey Romero, CPC Rey came to Medac with more than 20 years of experience in billing operations and financial management. He has managed multiple physician groups, ranging in size from 20 to 250 physicians. Rey spearheaded the successful start-up of 6 large billing groups. His duties included developing start-up processes and system set-up, hiring staff and client and corporate reporting. Most recently, Rey managed the University of Southern California Anesthesiology and Neurosurgery departments, where both departments experienced high levels of success, both financially and operationally. In addition, Rey has a vast knowledge of coding and compliance issues and has successfully researched and solved various coding issues to increase reimbursement. Rey has a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and is a certified professional coder through the American Society of Professional Coders (AAPC).

Krista Marie Schultz, CMPE
Vice President, Practice Management and Managed Care
Southern Region
Krista has over 20 years of experience in medical practice and managed care industries. She has worked in a variety of healthcare settings, including transplant, ambulatory surgery center, ancillary, home health, hospital, physician and medical practice management. She also has extensive knowledge and expertise in the areas of business development, contracting, strategic planning and corporate administration. In addition to her vast experience, Krista is Legislative Liaison for the Florida Anesthesia Administrators Association and actively lobbies for anesthesia initiatives in Washington, DC. She serves on the Board of Directors for the University for Education and Research in Tampa, Florida. Their mission is to improve healthcare outcomes through education and research. Krista is a Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) through the American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE) and a member of Medical Group Management Association (MGMA).

Kelly Baldwin
Vice President of Practice Management and Managed Care
Kelly has more than 10 years of experience in healthcare, beginning her career at University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia, and then working for a private neurosurgeon. Kelly has extensive experience in managed care contracting, resolving contractual payment issues, and HIPAA compliance. In addition to her practice management experience, Kelly has knowledge of provider enrollment and accounts receivable management. She assisted with the development of Medac’s Managed Care Module, which tracks under- and overpayments on managed care contracts and government payers. She has a Bachelor of Science in Education from The University of Georgia, is a member of Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), and is certified by the Board of Managed Care Medicine.
