All specifications regarding modifiers, concurrency CPT vs. ASA codes, etc. is entered for each individual payer. When charges are entered into our system, these specifications are applied. The system automatically monitors all payments from the built in contractual agreements. If the contractual payment is not met, (underpayments) the system automatically alerts the Billing Specialist for immediate follow up. Other services have to monitor each and every payment manually to calculate the discounted rate and compare it to the contracted rate. This does not alleviate the risk of human error nor does it guarantee that every single payment is indeed being monitored.
