Medac Clients Receive over $250,000 from WellPoint/Anthem Settlement

Reimbursement Checks to Arrive at Practices Soon

AUGUSTA, Ga. (December 1, 2006)— Medac is pleased to announce that a number of its clients are receiving reimbursement checks from the WellPoint/Anthem Physician Settlement. As part of its ongoing service to clients, Medac filed claims on behalf of all qualified physicians and practices that did business with them during the time period stated in the settlement requirements.

Eligibility was based on treatment of a patient, or patients, for three consecutive years between August 4, 1990 and May 10, 2005. The claims were filed based on the dollar amount that was paid to each physician by WellPoint/Anthem or one of its subsidiaries during this period. At this time, the settlement administrators have determined that the claims Medac filed were timely and valid and as a result, clients will begin receiving checks in the next few weeks.

“We were able to file client claims using documentation from our archived records. As you can imagine, it was a time consuming process. However, our in-house development team was able to create software that reviewed all case files and accurately determined which physicians had billed to qualified carriers and the amount they were due for reimbursement,” stated Bob Fraser, Medac’s Legal Council.

Medac has also filed claims on behalf of its clients in the ongoing Humana Managed Care Suit.
